RE: Newbie Question

On your hitch just make sure that your installer uses the same weight rated hitch and rails as the one you are going to buy, Other than that I couldn't see a problem if he installs them correctly.
As far as the TV It will pull the trailer, but will be a little slow if you are pulling in the mountains. I pulled a 28FRLS Outback 2006 with a GVWR of 9800 lbx with an 01 Chevy 2500 CCHD 6.0l engine without any problems but it did drag it down on long grades or steep hills. I have since upgraded because the truck was 7 years old.
We do load very light and only carry 5 gal of black tank water and 10 gal of fresh water.
Happy Camping

RE: GFCI - Where is it ?

I don't know your trailer but I think there might be a GFCI plug around the kitchen sink. This same thing has happened to me before and it was a GFCI plug that had tripped.

RE: Alaskan RV Tours

If you have a couple of firends that travel you might go as a group of two -four trailers. This way you have your safety in numbers, friends you can trust. We were supposed to go this summer but due to G-kids illness were unable to do so, but three couples out of a group we travel with made the trip and are on the turn around headed back home at this time.

RE: What's the secret to draining the water heater ?

When I drain mine I first remove the plug, then open the pop-off valve then i open the kitchen hot water valve. I open the kitchen valve because it is the furtherest from the water heater, I really don't know if that means anything or not, just the way I do it. This way the water starts out slowly because it is having to draw air through the drain as the water runs out.

RE: E-Z Lube wheel bearing maintenance

A floor jack or 6 ton bottle jack will be good to lift the wheels. I do not trust the axles with the greese fittings. To grease the bearings correctly they should be taken out of the drum cleaned and repacked. To pack the bearing take some grease in the palm of your hand then press the edge of the bearing into the grease. All you are doing is forceing grease into the bearings. I normally put extra grease into the hub after packing the bearings thinking that it will help dissipate the heat. I would think every eighteen months or two years would be sufficient for packing the bearings unless you do a lot of traveling then I would do it once a year.
Hope this helps.

RE: Campgound Shortfall

Steve; I would highly recomment the KOA at Wapakoneta. The owners are great people and you will be treated just as well there as you were in the Western States. If they are full there is a camp ground
(Easy Camp) just West of Wapakoneta on State Hwy 33. Is is quiet with full hookups. We have spent a couple of weeks at both campgrounds. Hope this helps and happy camping

RE: How many of you are

We are not actually set up permanently but we do have a golf cart. We have five acres of lane with two 30 amp sites on it and a barn. We use the golf cart a lot. Our (My DW's cart) is the gas engine type and seems to work better than the battery. The G-kids like it too.

RE: Beds Very Uncomfortable

Before you spend a lot of money for a new matress, try a 2 to 3" memory foam matress on top of the one you have. This is what we did and we actually sleep better in our trailer than at home.

RE: Camping on 99 cents. (pics)

That looks good and gives me an idea of what to do on my on private campground. I have 5 acres, water & elec, two 30 amp sites. The gravel should make a good pad. Thanks for the idea and enjoy.

RE: Travel Supreme and goose neck conversion?

Might want to contact the frame manufacturer and see what they have to say about the conversion.

RE: Kilgore, Texas

I you can, go to Shallow Creek RV Park. It is very nice, laundry, latrines, hot tub. I do not know about their monthly rates but sure they have them. It has changed hands since the last time we stayed there.

RE: 2K8 Silverado Diesel Recall

I had to have this done while in Ohio. Went to a local dealer and they fixed it right up. They did tell me that there is no warning as to when it locks up.

RE: Need help finding the right 5th wheel

I think most manufacturers will offer most of what you want in that size trailer. For the 100 gal tanks you need to ask if they can be special ordered. My trailer length is 30 ft, the actual box, not pin and bumpers, has the one slide booth seating, and couch and I think they have a rear kitchen, been a while since I looked at new ones.

RE: Lightning

I would think if the tongue jack or any of the stabilizer jacks were on the ground it might be more prone to lightening strikes. I don't really know if putting a wooden pad under the jacks would prevent it or not.

RE: roof vent covers

I think the basic benefit would be the air circulation if it is stored for a long period, and also going down the road it keeps the air circulating and is therefore a little cooler when you stop. Might want to consider replacing one vent with the Max-Air vent fan. If you happened to be shut up while it is raining it will keep fresh air circulating.
Hope this helps

RE: Bouncing!!

Ricky65; I have an 07 2500HDCCDA towing a 30 ft trailer. I get the same thing. A couple of options are shocks on the trailer axels or one of the three or four pin boxes the use air shocks or hard rubber shocks, 5th Airborne, Trail Air, to name two. These are expensive and run around 800 to 900 dollars, but I think a lot of searching may find one down around 650.00 to 700.00 dollars.
Hope this helps
